In this course, you will learn to:

Explore a variety of meditation tools to address the distractions of the mind.
Identify the root obstacles that prevent us from perceiving our true nature, and describe how they manifest in your life.
Explore sutras 1.23-2.9 to understand their theoretical meaning as well as apply them to real life.

Description

This course will build on your understanding of Yoga Sutra Part 1. We will explore the distractions that we encounter on our yoga journey, and look at the practical tools that we can use to manage them. We will unpack an important yoga concept, isvara: a Sanskrit term that describes that universal consciousness. We will also look at what Patanjali calls the “kleshas,” or the obstacles, which are the fundamental misperceptions that cloud our understanding of our true nature.

    Clear descriptions of the Sutras

The common examples provided by Rachel were helpful to understand the Sutras in the current context of the 21st C. I was able to also cross-reference with the text "The Path of the Yoga Sutras" by Nicolai Bachman, a practical companion resource.

Rachel makes the sutras accessible, fun and memorable!

I loved this course. Rachel really made the Sutras accessible and easily understandable. I loved her clear, concise language, the personal stories and her obvious deep knowledge of the subject. It was really interesting to hear translations from different sources. The sutras are so applicable to daily life - it is great to have a modern guide to make that connection. So much to dig into here!
