108: Sutras 1

This course will introduce you to Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, a very important text that established the seeds of the yoga practice of mindfulness and self-study more than 1700 years ago.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify Patanjali and describe the timeline of the Yoga Sutra.

  • Define and identify the importance of the sutra, yoga citta vrtti nirodhah, or "yoga is the restraint of the fluctuation of the mind."

  • Identify the five types of mental activity and describe the principles of practice (abhyasa) and non-attachment (vairagya).

    Tracey Noseworthy

    Tracey offers over 25 years experience in health and fitness, over 4000 hours teaching yoga, an E-RYT 500 hour and ACE Personal Trainer Certifications. She was named the “Most Distinguished Teacher” at the 2017 Victoria Yoga Conference and sat on the selection committee for 2018. She is a graduate of McMaster University with a Physical Education Degree. She is based out of beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, has a love for life, her children, her partner, her dog, travel and study. Tracey loves teaching ~ moving bodies, inspiring minds and is beyond grateful for the life she lives!
