    Extremely helpful for my practice

I think I changed more tiny details about my practice these past two weeks, than I have since I first started taking yoga. Also, I passed on a lot of the information to my clients, and I could see much better flow of energy in their poses as well--really excited to take the next course!!

    Principles of teaching

I learned more in this section than I have in years of yoga classes . I think many yoga teachers don’t go into that much detail so a person can go on for years misunderstanding ‘parallel’ as it applies to hands in particular . I have also been misunderstanding ‘4 corners of feet ‘ until now. ( I thought it included the toes ) . So I learned a lot and like the presentation methods with short videos and journal writing . Looking forward to more modules !

    Finding depth in the basics

Rachel's profound knowledge is transmitted with clarity and ease. Going over the key language and basics of teaching, cueing and alignment helped me as a student to be more mindful of my own practice. At the end of the lesson I felt I could cue a basic posture and then make it come to life.

    What a great start

So clear but also demands attention. I thought I could breeze through these, and was initially slightly annoyed at the journal exercises, but the pace and the practice of it made the lessons clear and deep.

    Feet and Hands

Rachel teaches optimal positioning and action of feet and hands with clear examples and activities that have helped me to internalize this concept. I may have to get tattoos of the "imaginary lines" on my hands and feet though - they are great prompts!

    Great job - Thank you!

What a great first week and introduction into the Level 1 training. The videos were clear and concise; the quizzes provided a good review of knowledge attainment; and the journal reflections and activities were fun and thought provoking. Thanks!

    In depth and interactive

The course work is much more rich than I expected in terms of detail and in terms of "work to be done"! Although it is taking more time to complete, it is after all training to help others/protect others within a yoga class and it does take that seriously which I appreciate. Its also fun!

    Week 1

I really enjoyed this and found it so useful and enlightening, particularly for my own practice. I think I've been doing parallel alignments of feet and hands a little wrong for years and might permanently draw the lines on my feet and hands. :) The other interesting realisation was how much there is to cueing and not only how much there is to think about, remember and get across but how there is such an art to delivering the cues, while practising. It's much trickier than I imagined, I'm looking forward to improving at that. I liked the pace of the course and the structure and enjoyed the selected classes also as they gave me a chance to practise and think about what I'd learned.

Concepts and teachings are so well organized. This made return to deepen understandings easy.

It was clear and thorough so that I could return to particular ideas and concepts easily and review sections that were less familiar and to be reviewed again. For example the action teaching section was very good and I could shore up my understandings quickly and then return to other sections where the concept emerged again.

    102 Principles of Teaching

Excellent. I appreciate being able to complete each section as I am able at my own pace. The videos were great quality. Rachel’s engaging personality and attention to detail provided a positive learning environment. Journal assignments mirror each lesson well and require a thorough analysis and reflection without being “busy work.” A great foundational class. Looking forward to the next class. Thank you for making this opportunity available.

    Great hands-on "feet-on?" approach!

Loved all the practical examples and that we were constantly trying out the concepts real-time on ourselves. Drawing lines from second toe to mid-ankle is a fantastic idea for bringing awareness to our alignment! Love Rachel's teaching style. So easy to understand, small bite-sized portions, repeating key principles and re-using the same vocabulary to make it stick!

This was a good first course in the Level 1 Series. It gives a good foundation for starting this journey. The videos were well done. Rachel does a nice job. Her explanations are clear. The exercises and journaling helped to solidify the key points. Looking forward to the next course.

    Written transcript of teaching videos

My previous online education courses that used video teaching in their lesson modules provided a written transcript of the speaking host so you could follow along, review and pause in reading for further understanding instead of rewinding parts of the video. I was able to copy and paste the teacher's verbal words into my notes for referral instead of going back and forth between sections of the video. Hope this will help visual learners that require a written transcript of video lessons. Thank you!!!

Rachel's video instructions with the written support was very beneficial. Also, working with the videos, videoing self-instruction was very useful. It was fun to work with my non-yogi partner. I may turn him into a yogi!

Wow Wish I was Taught This Stuff Earlier!!

Been doing Yoga for many years (I am 54) but never been taught these basics. Heard the cueing from teachers but no one ever explained what it meant -- Feet parrallel used to drive me crazy... So glad to have this good foundational information. It will serve me well and cant wait for more~
