105: Cueing 1 - Position

Learning to use language and your voice is one of the best tools you have in your teaching tool box. In this lesson, you are going to learn the essential skills you need to guide your students skillfully and effectively in their poses in a yoga practice. You will learn to use direct language, build postures sensibly from the foundation up, and move the body sequentially so that you can lead your students gracefully and with intention.

This lesson will set the foundation for your teaching skills as a teacher, helping you to confidently guide students in their practice.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • List the three steps to DYWM cueing (position, action, connection) and cue position effectively and safely.

  • Describe how direct language, intonation, and pacing can be used to cue yoga poses more effectively.

  • Describe advanced cueing techniques and use them to teach a pose effectively.
