203: Anatomy of the Core

This course will introduce you to the key concepts that help us understand core activation, and how they affect the body's stability and mobility. Then we’ll look closely at eight core muscles, where they are, how they work individually and together, and the role they play in a variety of yoga poses.

In this course, you will learn to:

  • Kep Concepts

    Describe key concepts that help you understand the role of core muscles in providing strength and stability

  • Functional Groups

    List the eight key core muscles in functional groups and cue students to activate each one.

  • Asanas

    Understand and describe the action of these core muscles within a variety of yoga poses.

    David is a yoga and meditation teacher with 15 years of teaching experience and 25 years of practice. His knowledge of the various aspects of yoga and meditation, particularly functional anatomy, relaxation, sleep and anxiety, have informed his teaching and allowed him to help others realize their potential. David lives in Victoria, BC, Canada with his wife, son, step-daughter, two cats and six chickens.
